Watchindia.tv has Indian channels. I am not sure about SunTV but check it out. (4 recommendations)
We've used www.WatchIndia.tv in the past.
Quality of the broadcast on WatchIndia.TV via a computer is pretty decent (needs a good internet connection). I would recommend it.They now offer a set-top box that can be used to connect to the TV. Following are my experiences with it.
- I borrowed a WatchIndia set-top box from a friend, for a few days & tried it out.
- The device is very compact (it's approx the size of a wireless router).
- It comes with a remote that can't control any other device (eg: the TV). It's easy enough for parents to use it. Would have been nice if it could at least power ON/OFF the TV, and control the volume (that way, I could have just given one remote to my parents). I haven't tried configuring an universal remote for it yet.
- Setting up the device is fairly easy. It requires a wired internet connection
- The picture and sound quality is acceptable. The quality is a little grainier than a SD transmission.
- One some days, I ran into some network/buffering issues -- couldn't tell if it was because of my internet connection or the device or because of WatchIndia.
- The UI is pretty slow....each of the commands (via the remote) takes 3-4 seconds to complete
- There are no DVR-like features :-(
- The device does not have HDMI out
- Check out the manufacturer's web site at http://www.wherever.tv/AppHome.jsf for some additional details about the device
- WatchIndia offers only a 7-day trial period
- Note that I tried it with a 47 inch TV and a comcast broadband connection (10+ mbps download and 2+ mbps upload speeds).
Try desiplug.com.. its free.
