Question:
I’m looking for recommendations for Indian Cable TV providers here - What do you subscribe to? Any particular packages and offers I should look at? My in-laws and grandmother will be here and they need entertainment when we’re both at work J. I’m looking for the popular Kannada channels and Hindi (Star/Zee) too.
I found a couple of packages on Dish Network and DirectTV, but decided to check with the alias before I went ahead with one of them. We currently have Comcast - so if there’s a deal there, I’d rather stick with that.
Also, please share any compiled threads if they already exist. I looked on MSINdians.net but didn’t find anything specific there.
Compilation of responses:
Thanks for all the replies! It looks like Dish Network is the best option if I’m looking long term, since it has both Hindi channels and 1 Kannada channel (Udaya TV). For more Kannada choices, the online subscription websites seem to be the only option.
I’m looking to add this just for two months, and I’m leaning towards the online subscriptions since my in-laws have no problem browsing and watching online (my TV is already connected to my laptop anyway).
Here is a compilation of all the responses (for folks in the BCC) that I received:
Dish TV will be your best bet.
I have Dish Network and subscribe to Hindi package – Zee/Sony/Star (2 channels) and B4u . Cost me $40 + must have base 100 channels American $40. You can get kannada channels added , I think per channel cost 15$. You may check for new deals online.
Using this for 3 years , no problem with service. If somebody refers some deal is there haven’t checked lately.
Recently tried to move to direct TV since I was eligible for Costco cash back 250$ but didn’t find Zee/Sony on their menu and many regional channels missing.
AFAIK, Comcast offers only Zee(Hindi) in Redmond/Bellevue area.
I tried looking at Dish & Direct TV, but since our patio was not SE or SW facing, they couldn’t be installed.
Comcast only has Zee. Dish Network seems to have the best hindi channels (not sure about Kannada).
Only dish network has kannada channel, and only Udaya TV.
www.Gwdish.com has offers on Dish TV subscriptions
Check out http://watchindia.tv
They have a new set top box offering based on IPTV… I am using it currently and its really worth the price…
They have 24 english + hindi channel pack for around 25$ and an annual discount of 33% to top it
OR
They have a 45+ channel mega pack for 40$ and an annual discount of 33% to top it
And a onetime cost of 100$ to purchase the set top box which is optional, if you can connect your laptop output directly to your TV then this might not be a mandatory purchase…
The quality is good but I am not sure of the aspect ratios on high resolutions LCD/LED…
You can check www.channellive.tv or www.yupptv.com. I have a subscription to Telugu channels on both of these, and they are working very fine for me. The quality and streaming are all good … no issues so far for me.
I rent an apartment that doesn't have south facing Patio. Dish network chat support said that is required for me to go with Dish.
I just subscribed to one of the hindi packages on http://watchindia.tv for relatives. The quality of most channels is fine (SD) and overall, seems to be good value for the price. Comcast offers Zee TV for $15/mo and I got many more with WatchIndiaTV for the same price under a current promotion.

We have to use IP TV like Dishworld, YuppTV, Reliableiptv, Telugu Live, watchsuntv with smart TV devices like NetGear Neotv, apple tv, chromcast, rouko.. etc.
Note: YuppTV will not work on Rouko device due to some legal issues in Canada/US.
http://www.dishworld.com/telugu , Dishworld gives free roku device if you prepay for 4 months.
the service provides the entire content while using minimum bandwidth and does not compromise on quality either. iptv subscription

I’ve been browsing online greater than three hours lately, but I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It's beautiful price enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the internet can be a lot more useful than ever before.Watch Apna Time Bhi Aayega Today Episode
